Here, therapy looks like play, because children learn best when they are engaged, regulated, and having fun! Your child will love building new communication skills as they move, engage in sensory activities, get creative with hands-on activities, or pretend with their favorite toys.

Our speech therapy sessions are always tailored to meet your family’s goals and needs. As a parent, you’ll be involved in the therapy journey every step of the way— because when you feel confident about helping your child communicate, they grow a little every day.

RC Speech and Language Pathology serves families in Norwalk, Westport, Wilton, New Canaan, Darien, and Stamford, CT.

The RC Approach to Speech Therapy

We’ll begin with an evaluation to understand your child’s communication strengths and challenges, guided by what matters most to you as a parent. From there, we’ll develop personalized therapy goals to support growth.

Each session, your child will choose an activity, and we’ll follow their lead— weaving our therapy goals into their play all along the way! At the end of our time together, we’ll connect with you and discuss how to support your child at home. Together, we’ll help your child become a confident and successful communicator.

  • For children with CAS, talking can feel hard— so we use playful activities to teach their brains how to plan and produce speech. Early sessions focus on helping your child get sounds out and make simple words, while later sessions focus on longer words and phrases.

Using evidence-based approaches and repetition, speech therapy will help your child:

    • Combine sounds and syllables to form words

    • Shape word approximations toward the correct form of the target word

    • Speak more clearly

    • Be understood by family and friends

    • Enjoy talking and want to keep trying

  • Our child-led speech therapy sessions are built on trust, connection, and regulation. We’ll meet your child where they’re at and support communication as we engage in their special interests together— whether that’s alphabet letters, dinosaurs, trucks, or sensory activities!

With training in echolalia, scripting, and Gestalt Language Processing, our autism-affirming speech therapy sessions will help your child:

    • Feel safe, regulated, and motivated to try to communicate

    • Flexibly mix and match their favorite scripts

    • Use their own words and make original sentences

    • Communicate with joy and confidence

  • Does your child have trouble using or understanding words? Our early language sessions focus on helping toddlers reach language milestones in a natural way— while playing with their favorite toys, books, and sensory activities!

We work closely with parents to support growth at home in everyday life. Language therapy will help your child:

    • Combine words to make phrases and sentences

    • Gain new vocabulary words

    • Understand what they hear and answer questions

    • Communicate confidently with less frustration

  • We can help your struggling reader succeed in school and overcome challenges related to reading, writing, and spelling! Using the Orton-Gillingham approach, your child will gain reading skills step-by-step through movement, sound, and visual cues. Our goal is to show your child that reading can be easy— and, dare we say, fun!

Reading, writing, and spelling sessions are always tailored to your child’s unique needs. Literacy therapy will help your child:

    • Learn the relationship between sounds and letters

    • Read with greater ease and fluency

    • Understand what they read

    • Improve spelling and writing skills

    • Feel like a confident and successful reader

  • Stuttering therapy supports children of all ages, from preschool through school age. Rather than trying to “fix” stuttering, we help children understand how their speech system works, accept stuttering as a communication difference, and learn strategies that make speaking feel easier.

We work alongside families and schools to form a network of support, and your child’s emotional well-being will always be central to therapy. Stuttering therapy will help your child:

    • Understand and accept their stutter

    • Learn how to change stuttering by reducing tension and/or slowing their speech rate

    • Reduce negative feelings, perceptions, and attitudes towards stuttering

    • Communicate freely and confidently

We’re excited to announce that we will be offering administration of the ADOS-2 (the "gold standard" assessment tool used to diagnose autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in individuals aged 12 months to adulthood) soon.

  • "There is magic in how she makes hard work feel like play."

“From the very first session, it was clear that Roz is something special. She has a rare gift for working with children. She is endlessly kind, incredibly patient, and met our child exactly where they were, without any pressure or frustration. There is magic in how she makes hard work feel like play.”

    ~ Mom from Darien

  • "...my son loves his sessions..."

“Rosalind is an absolute professional, and my son loves his sessions because it’s always fun, unique, and based on his needs. When our son first started therapy, he was struggling being nonverbal. After 2 years of intensive work, we moved forward with progress, and our family really appreciates all the work that was done.”

    ~ Parent from Bethel

  • "She gets how to communicate in a way that makes my child feel understood..."

“What truly sets her apart is that she just “gets it.” She gets how to engage a child who is hesitant. She gets how to turn a challenge into a game. She gets how to communicate in a way that makes my child feel understood, capable, and excited to learn. It’s an intuition you can’t teach.”

    ~ Local mom

  • "Roz is heaven sent."

“How can I thank Roz enough for my child’s gift of speech? The very thought of how far she brought her in such a short time brings tears of happiness. I still remember my silent little girl, but it was Roz that gave me the little girl that talks and sings and surprises me every day with the things she says. Roz is heaven sent. I will never forget her.”

    ~ Val

  • "Thanks for all your help and hard work."

“I just wanted to let Roz know how much I appreciate what she has done for my son and for our family. He is a fun, loving, and enjoyable child now, and he seems so much happier. Thanks for all your help and hard work. It certainly is worth it!”

    ~ HM

  • "...it is just a miracle."

“Thinking back to last June when my son had to be almost physically pried from around me to now when he asks to go to “Roz’s school”, it is just a miracle.”

    ~ Local mom

  • "...you have my never-ending gratitude."

“So what Rosalind did was take a little boy who was so frustrated and only knew aggression as a means of expression and gave him the basic gift of language and a brand new world... for your extreme effort and patience that you gave my son, you have my never-ending gratitude.”

    ~ Kathy
